Report: Made in Münster Festival 2023

And there it was, the second edition of the Made in Münster Festival had started and we were right in the middle of it.

On arrival we were greeted by Maxi, one of the organisers and guitarist of the band Kings&Hurricanes from Münster! As we already noticed last year, the festival is surrounded by a very familiar and friendly atmosphere in which you can really feel at home.

After setting up our stand we talked to the nice ladies from the stand next door, SeaEye! The organisation for which the festival is donating a part of the proceeds this year. SeaEye is an organisation that has set itself the task of rescuing people in distress at sea. The people for whom none of the authorities feels responsible. They own a ship that is involved in sea rescue on a daily basis and helps people in distress.

At 3 p.m., the event got underway. Daniel Nicholas Fairhurst started the show with his soft guitar sounds and lyrics on his acoustic guitar. He comes from Wales and has been living in Münster for 6 years, where he lives out his music.

And here we have to report directly about our great raffle because Mr. Fairhurst has delivered us the main prize! An incredible living room concert! We could hardly believe it when we got the great offer, many thanks for that Daniel! But we were also very pleased with the merch from the other bands. T-shirts and CDs as well as stickers and lighters were sent to us. Many thanks to you artists for this support!

Afterwards there was more movement on stage. From Bochum, Hallways kicked our asses with their metal. You just couldn't get around the band without moving. Shouts from the frontman alternating with clean vocals from the guitarist rounded off the picture of hard riffs.

Womuka, a combo of three with bass, guitar and cajon took us into their living room. Dressed in bathrobes, they stood on stage and presented witty lyrics with catchy melodies to sing along to.

Low Places inspired us the most on this evening! The troupe took us into the world of country music, especially a very talented young singer with a voice that made us want to dance along! He was supported by a contrabass, a plate steel guitar, a solo guitarist and a drummer. A luminary from Münster, the troupe, how nice what great music comes from our city!

Maverick followed with rap and pop elements, strong interludes with good vocals.

The guest band Kings&Hurricanes started with a witty intro and the exuberant atmosphere didn't stop. PopPunk from Münster as it lives and breathes! The combo with front woman Carina at the microphone played one catchy tune after the other and really lifted the mood to the maximum.

Many thanks to Kings&Hurricanes who once again gave us the opportunity to be part of this great festival day! Lots of love to you!

In Your Face! Hal Johnson then did the honours with an extensive punk rock set. The band delivered punk like it is written in the book and could convince the audience of themselves very quickly. The guitarist got the audience involved at times and joined the fray in the front rows.

The final act of the evening was the young artist Slay, who has steadily increased the production of his tracks during his time at Corona. Now a big name in Münster's trap rap scene, he wowed the audience and the crowd went wild. Slay closed the festival with a bang and after a successful show including featurings he said goodbye to the crowd in the following party in the Sputnikhalle.

We had a lot of fun on the day, met new super nice people and were happy to be part of this great festival again. Now it's time to draw the winners and we are very excited about who will get the great living room concert!

Until next time, dear Made in Münster Festival, maybe we can honour you again next year.
